The first day I entered Camelle's studio, I never dreamed that I could ever
dance because of a neurological problem which makes me clumsy. I only hoped
that she could help me walk and move about more gracefully. We spent 15
minutes together talking and walking around the dance floor. After that
short assessment, she informed me that she could teach me to dance if I
would keep a positive attitude and trust her. My mind sincerely doubted
her, but my heart felt the commitment and honesty she was projecting, so I
agreed to take lessons with her. And now, a few months later, that once
unreachable dream is becoming a reality. Words alone could never explain
how I'm feeling as this new life progresses.

Just when I thought joy could only resurge through
romance. I found happiness and excitement in dance. The rhythms of
the rumba and the cha cha make my heart sing. The thrill of
movement emerges from the swing and I feel the smooth tango sweep me
along. While the line dances give energy to country songs everyone
insistence that I find my passion. The music I love answered that
burning question. Whether it’s the waltz or the foxtrot, my feet
speak the tempo with all I’ve got. My motion through dance floats
across the floor encompassing my soul.
May the charm of dance always flare! (M.E.L.)

It is said that art is
the mirror of the soul. Thus, I can say that dance is an art which bares one’s
soul, and indeed brings forth the beauty of human kind. For three years my
spouse and I have enjoyed our time at Camelle’s. We have experienced a harmony
which has brought us closer together, established associations with other
dancers, both student and professionals, and it has enriched our life
experiences well beyond the sometimes hum-drum life of retirement. We have seen
partners become couples, elders regain youthful and positive attitudes and folks
just becoming friends. It is a shame that so few discover the “Art of Ballroom
Dancing” late in their lives; and many times after an event which forces them to
experiment with a new lifestyle. Ballroom dancing has always been there for
them, but for some reason overlooked.
While this is an
endorsement of dancing for personal enrichment, I would like to go further to
say, that just like people, dance studios differ. Our experiences prior to
discovering Camelle and her studio covered three years and three different
studios; each offering its own character and personality. Each proved
personally rewarding, yet the commitment to the students, as well as the fun and
social interaction we find at Camelle’s, make us true regulars at Camelle’s Art
of Dance. We thank you Camelle for providing us with the good fortune to
discover this wonderful next step in the adventure of our lives. (D.L.D.)
